The Ballywalter Intergenerational Project is a reminiscence and recall project involving members of the Ballywalter seniors group and P7 children from the local primary school. The theme of the project is 'Ballywalter Now and Then'. Its aim is to record the history of Ballywalter as told by senior residents with help from Ballywalter P.S. This will be in the form of a booklet sourced, designed and written by the participants.

Young people from TRASH Youth Council (Teenagers Rural Ards Shout Health), have spent the last couple of months working with a drama facilitator and filmmaker. They've been exploring current youth perspectives and attitudes on the contents of a Bill of Rights for Northern Ireland. This has enabled them to shoot a short documentary and to hold a showcase event on the proposed NI Bill of Rights.
The Mayor of Ards Borough Council, Councillor Robin Drysdale, launched the 2006-7 Annual Report at the 12th AGM of East Down Rural Community Network. The event was held in Maxwell Courtyard, Kircubbin on Wednesday 5th December 2007.

The Rural Community Estates Programme (RCEP) is run by RCN (NI) and aims to target and provide opportunities for people living in rural housing estates to develop their capacity to work for the development of services.
The Capacity Building Programme began in 1999 and a number of areas have benefitted from intensive one to one developmental support.
