Community Safety Partnership

Community Safety is about action to tackle crime, anti-social behaviour and the fear of crime. It is about improving the quality of life through multi-agency partnerships between the public, private and voluntary sectors.

The Network sits on the Down District Community Safety Network, along with partners from the Housing Executive, Down Lisburn Trust, PSNI, Down District Council, Women's Aid, Eastern Drugs & Alcohol Co-ordinating Team, SEELB, the Fire & Rescue Service, members of the community and other voluntary organisations.

Following an audit and consultation around the district, the following key issues were identified:

  1. Anti-social behaviour;
  2. Drug, substance and alcohol abuse
  3. Domestic burglary
  4. Car crime
  5. Youth offending and reducing criminality
  6. Fear of crime amongst older people, vulnerable adults, victims and children;
  7. Offences against individuals particularly domestic violence and sexual assault;
  8. Increasing community participation in community safety.

The Partnership Board meet once a month and in between times a series of Working Group meet up to deal with specific issues.

The Partnership also have a small grant scheme.
